Prosecutor’s Office Brought Motion to Strip Garo Pailan of Immunity


Following the presidential office of Turkey, the prosecutor of Diyarbakir has submitted a motion to the Turkish parliament to strip of immunity Member of Parliament Garo Pailan of Armenian origin, pro-Kurdish People’s Democratic Party (HDP), Armenpress informed, referring

The prosecutor’s office submitted the motion within the framework of the investigation against Pailan under Article 301 of the Turkish code which penalizes insult against the Turkish people and the Turkish state, state bodies.

The investigation started after Pailan stated: “Armored cars and water cannons are seen at every corner, which reminds of the period of Hitler and Mussolini.”

The member of parliament’s statement is deemed by authorities as insult against the Turkish authorities and state.
