The Court of Appeals chaired by Judge Mnatsakan Harutiunyan is hearing the appeal submitted by the defenders of the ex-president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan against his custody.
Aram Orbelyan, Kocharyan’s defender, submitted to complaints to court. The first one was submitted immediately after publication of the ruling of the first instance court when it was not important to become familiar with the content of the decision and the second complaint was submitted after getting familiar with the content of the decision.
The defender informed that the ban on visits to Robert Kocharyan has been addressed partly. “The ban on visits is still effective but there are exceptions. As a result of exceptions his son and daughter visited him twice. The issue of providing a computer has not been addressed yet, there are both legislative and technical issues. We have suggested providing a computer without access to the web,” Orbelyan said.
On January 18 the court extended the second president Robert Kocharyan’s custody by two months. Back on December 26 Robert Kocharyan’s defenders submitted a motion for releasing him on bail.
