Today a group of humanitarian mine clearers, doctors and Armenian specialists ensuring their security, in total 83 people, arrived in Aleppo, Syria, to render humanitarian aid to the Syrian people.
The Armenian specialists will be involved in humanitarian mine clearance, awareness raising on mines, medical services in areas where there are no military actions.
The decision to provide professional humanitarian aid to the Syrian people by the Republic of Armenia was made considering the humanitarian situation resuling from the military actions in Syria and especially Aleppo, the UN Security Council Resolution 2393 of 2017 and Resolution 2401 of 2018, the written request of the Syrian side, as well as the populous Armenian community in Aleppo.
Issues relating to the placement, status, functions and security of the Armenian specialists in Syria have been regulated in line with the legislation of Armenia.
Transportation of Armenian specialists to Syria and issues relating to their supplies are handled by the Russian side.
