NATO Sees Only Peaceful Settlement of Conflict of Nagorno-Karabakh

For NATO, there can be no successful military solution to the conflict of Nagorno-Karabakh, the NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and the special representative of NATO Secretary General in the South Caucasus and Central Asia James Appathurai said in a press conference on March 11, Armenpress informed.

James Appathurai said peace and security directly interest NATO and commended new efforts that the new government of Armenia makes in the peace process. He also said that NATO is encouraged by the noticeable alleviation of tension along the line of contact. Relaying the position of NATO, James Appathurai said the conflict of Nagorno-Karabakh can be resolved only in a peaceful way, and it cannot have a successful military solution, Appathurai said.
