Deputy Minister of Health Arrested for Bribe

The National Security Service received information about bribery by the deputy minister of health of Armenia. In the result of operative intelligence actions evidence was collected on the intention of the director of a medical institution to get the protection of the deputy minister coordinating the activities of funding medical institutions by the Ministry of Health and establish favorable working relations with him.

With a view to getting funding from the Ministry of Health programs to cover the deficit of funding of the organization on 30 March 2019 the person gave a large amount to the deputy minister of health in his office, and handing took place under the operative control of the NSS staff.

Proceedings were launched under Article 311 Para 4.2 and Article 312 Para 3.1 in the investigative department of the National Security Service and on the same day the deputy minister was detained. The latter’s age and state of health was taken into account to set him free upon signing an undertaking not to leave.

The investigation continues, the press office of the National Security Service informed.
