Proceedings on Case of Robert Kocharyan et al Suspended and Sent to Constitutional Court

The proceedings on the case of the second president Robert Kocharyan, the ex-deputy prime minister Armen Gevorgyan, the former minister of defense Seiran Ohanyan and former CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov have been suspended by the court decision, and the case has been sent to the Constitutional Court, Seiran Ohanyan’s barrister Inessa Petrosyan told Armenpress.

“I was informed by the court that the case has been suspended on the grounds of sending to the Constitutional court,” she said.

The barrister also said that the court has, most probably, applied to the Constitutional Court for the constitutionality of Article 301.1 of the Criminal Code under which Kocharyan et al were charged. Note that the judge can make such a decision before preparing the case for trial.

The Prosecutor General’s Office has no information yet.
