Kocharyan’s Barristers Claim Judge’s Withdrawal

Armenia

Judge Armen Danielyan of the Court of Appeals left the room after Robert Kocharyan’s defenders filed a motion for withdrawal of the judge. They have doubts about intervention in the system of automatic assignment of cases, and two appeals relating to Kocharyan have been assigned to the same judge. Formerly, the defenders say, different appeals were examined by different judges.

The court will publish the decision on withdrawal today, at 3:15 pm.

The prosecutor general’s office did not support the motion for withdrawal, neither did the successors of victims.

Today the Court of Appeal is examining the appeals against release of Robert Kocharyan from custody, suspension of his case and sending it to the Constitutional Court.
