The construction of a new 250 megawatt power station in Yerevan will reduce the price of electricity by about 1-1.5 AMD determined by this factor only, said the chair of the Public Services Regulatory Commission Garegin Baghramyan during the launch of construction of the power station, Armenpress informed.
“The new station is built to replace Hrazdan Thermal Power Plant because it is already old, and its efficiency is low. The life left for this station is 1-2 years,” Baghramyan said. According to him, Hrazdan TPP is operated during peaks when there is shortage of electricity. He underlined that power generated there is rather expensive, and only the fuel component is 31.5 AMD which is 4 AMD more already.
The chair of the Public Services Regulatory Commission stated that the new station’s efficiency is higher by at least 4%.
