Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in a live address on Facebook that we should give a chance to mine in Amulsar.
Earlier he had said that ELARD has concluded that the basins of Lake Sevan and Jermuk are not threatened. He recalled that a year ago he had stated that the assessment must answer this question, and if there are no risks, the mine must be exploited.
“If it turns out that there are risks for Lake Sevan, for Jermuk waters, this mine will no way be exploited, we will close it and will not discuss it because it is a matter of our national security. However, it is in the interests of the government which has received people’s vote of confidence to give a chance to exploit the mine in Amulsar. We must align with the condition we had put forth,” the prime minister said.
