U.S. Ambassador to Armenia H.E. Lynne M. Tracy introduced US policy priorities in Armenia and in the region at AIISA


September 9, 2019, Yerevan. AIISA hosted U.S. Ambassador to Armenia H.E. Mrs. Lynne M. Tracy, accompanied with Embassy diplomats, to discuss US policy priorities in Armenia and in the region, as well as other issues of bilateral significance with the expert community.

Styopa Safaryan, AIISA founder and head of research programs, expressing his gratitude to Mrs. Ambassador for accepting the invitation and introducing the experts and the staff, stressed the importance of such a meeting, “It has become a tradition in our institute to host foreign diplomats and discuss bilateral and regional policy issues with them. On February 14 we had such a wonderful meeting with H.E. Richard M. Mills Jr., US former Ambassador to Armenia, to discuss US National Security strategy adopted on December 18, 2017, its projection on our region and beyond, also various issues of Armenia-USA bilateral agenda. It had a significant importance in our expert commentaries and researches implemented in this period to precisely reflect issues related to US policy and introducing them to our public.”

Then Mrs. Ambassador touched upon US policy priorities in Armenia and in the region sector by sector, US support to Armenia, new perspectives for the two sides after the democratic transition in Armenia in April-May 2018, also challenges to which Armenia and the USA confront.

The Ambassador thoroughly touched upon the immense work implemented in bilateral relations both up to now and the unrealized great potential, were the sides have much to do. As a newly appointed diplomat, who will carry out her mission in Armenia for upcoming years, she focused on directions, which will progress and enlarge Armenia-USA agenda. Mrs. Tracy noted, “It is in the interests of the United States to support the development of a sovereign, democratic Armenia.”

During the Q&A followed by Ambassador’s comprehensive introduction AIISA experts were equipped with more details on present stage and future of USA-Iran, USA-Russia relations, US Administration’s policy to provide regional security and peaceful settlement of Artsakh/Nagorno Karabakh conflict, US current and future financial and other assistance to Armenia, Armenia-USA strategic dialogue, trade-economic cooperation and other issues.
