The director of the National Security Service Artur Vanetsyan has been released, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during his press conference today.
“I have signed the solicitation on releasing the director of the National Security Service, the relevant order will be signed within a day or two. This is the result of several discussions with the NSS director and based on mutual agreement. We have discussed several scenarios on Mr. Vanetsyan further wrk and these scenarios will be discussed on the go. Currently, I think, Mr. Vanetsyan will focus on solving the problem of leading the national football team of Armenia to the final of UEFA cup,” the prime minister said.
The director of the National Security Service has published a message on his decision to resign.
“State building has its own logic: chaotic decisions, hasty action, the style of not distinguishing the primary from the secondary, the transient from the permanent is not the way leading to fulfilment of goals. It has nothing in common with the dignity of the officer: the officer’s insignia and such stream of developments cannot go together. Let my resignation by a sobering step to stop, in all other options the duty to the homeland will win.”
Commenting on the former NSS director’s statement which, in fact, is an accusation against the government, Prime Minister Pashinyan said: “He is already an ex-official, he is free to make statements.”
