Iran Attacked U.S. Bases in Iraq

Today morning the world media informed about Iran’s attack on two American bases in the north and west of Iraq, firing a series of ballistic missiles. According to the U.S. media, several Iraqi servicemen were injured. The Revolutionary Guards said it was the revenge for the killing of Gen. Soleimani. The Guards warned that if the United States answers, their answer will be tougher.

Iran’s actions are the proportional answer to the killing of General Qassem Suleimani, the Iranian foreign minister Javad Zarif twitted in the morning of January 8.

He said Iran struck the base from which Suleimani was attacked. The foreign minister wrote: “Iran took & concluded proportionate measures in self-defense under Article 51 of UN Charter targeting base from which cowardly armed attack against our citizens & senior officials were launched. We do not seek escalation or war, but will defend ourselves against any aggression.”
